The Six

The Six, located at 239 E16th Avenue, Vancouver, is a residential project of six dwelling units within a property lot located in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood of Vancouver. The design concept is a series of offset, charcoal boxes stacked above a solid, light-grey base to establish a contemporary architectural expression along East 16th Avenue. To provide a more pleasant ground-level treatment and overall massing, the setbacks from the east property line vary between floors. On the south façade, level two is cantilevered to provide overhead weather protection for the ground-level units, whilst level three is also cantilevered along the eastern façade to provide weather protection for unit entrances located on level two. Level three is recessed on the north and south façades to create a more interesting building scale along East 16th Avenue as well as to balance the overall massing concept facing the laneway.
