Eastpark – 35th & Main

TKA+D was engaged by Boffo Properties to design this 79 Unit development in Vancouver’s emerging “Little Mountain” adjacent area. The project involved rezoning of existing low density land redeveloped to two 5 storey wood framed residential buildings with a below grade concrete parking level in each. The building fronting Main Street includes 8 rental units.

General massing strategies for the building made use of solid + void space to enliven contrasts of light + dark / cold + warm. Large outdoor recessed living areas provide passive shading + shelter from the elements. Each unique suite was compartmentalized with an air barrier system, serviced by an individual Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), and third party verified to improve occupant comfort and optimize overall energy use. Both buildings at Eastpark have been awarded LEED for Homes Platinum level certification by the US Green Building Council.
