CapU Residences – 1310 Monashee Drive

Located at the northeastern edge of campus, The Residences at CapU aims to provide much needed rental housing in close proximity to Capilano University, and to enhance the existing food services on campus by providing commercial spaces geared towards small restaurants and cafés. The site connects to existing pedestrian and cyclist networks, as well as to transit via the Northern Transit Exchange, which is directly across Monashee Drive.

Composed of two six-storey buildings, this development is centered around a generously landscaped greenspace and will provide 315 rental units, with a mix of lofts, studios, and one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites to meet the varying needs of students, staff and faculty. Below grade, there is a single storey of underground parking, along with secured bicycle storage and end-of-trip facilities for cyclists.

The ground floor commercial units face onto Monashee and are set back from the street to provide landscaped outdoor gathering space and establish a public realm that is inviting to all campus users. Visible from the Northern Transit Exchange, the Bosa Centre and the surrounding campus buildings, this location is a prominent entry point to Capilano University campus and the proposed development will contribute to the activity and animation of this gateway.
