The Opportunity:

TKA+D is seeking a Communications Specialist & Proposal Writer to join our team. This key position will primarily manage proposals, responses to RFPs, marketing materials including the websites and social media and possesses proficient graphic design as well as technical & narrative writing skills in support to the senior management team.

What we will be asking you to do:

• Manage and coordinate the preparation of written proposals and RFPs within timeframes established
• Act as the primary TKA+D contact for proposals, RFPs etc.
• Establish schedule for proposal -related deliverables
• Coordinate material and related deliverables with all proposal-related team members
• Lay out text and images in proposal/RFP/marketing materials in Adobe InDesign
• Write required marketing text to support technical writing by others as needed for proposals/RFP
• Provide copy-writing and editing all content
• Create any required supporting graphics as needed – ie project schedules, organization charts, diagrams etc.
• Maintain the TKA+D website + social media as needed under the direction of senior leadership
• Maintain TKA+D brand consistency on all marketing materials including social media
• Report to senior leadership team
• Lead the development of the TKA+D website, providing design direction, copy-writing and editing content, manage the creation of a website with outside consultants as well as establish and coordinate the TKA+D team to provide the required content
. Skills you will bring:

• Degree in communications, marketing, business or other relevant field
• 2+ years of experience in a similar role ideally in the AEC industry
• Demonstrated Excellence in copy-writing, editing, and proof reading skills
• Proficiency of Adobe Creative suite, primarily InDesign, Illustrator, & Photoshop
• Proficiency of Microsoft Office suite of software
• Demonstrated Excellence in Organization & Time Management
• Demonstrated Excellence in communication both written and verbal
• Demonstrated Excellence reporting to senior leadership team
• Experience creating and managing the production if a website would be an asset

TKA+D is a young innovative architecture and interior design firm located in Vancouver, Canada. We are a medium sized firm of approximately 40 people with a passion for high quality, innovative design while providing our clients with exceptional personal service. We fully embrace BIM in all our projects and have been utilizing Revit as our primary documentation platform since our inception 13 years ago. We have recently secured a number of very exciting projects and are looking for talented team members as well as team leaders to bring on at the outset. We embrace sustainability in all our work and are currently working on LEED, Carbon Neutral, Passivehaus and mass timber projects.

We are currently searching for Intermediate and Senior Architects registered or eligible to be registered in BC with a passion for creating buildings with high technical standards while realizing and maintaining a consistently high design quality.

Applicants should have proven experience in the design development, documentation, and management of projects from inception to completion.

Job Description – Architect

General Architects will undertake the normal duties of an Architect as outlined by the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC). They will carry out day to day operations at a project level and manage all projects under their control and / or work with other TKA+D members in a team environment under the direction of an Associate or Principal.

Architects will represent the firm in all professional and day to day operational activities. They will carry out their work professionally and efficiently with respect, integrity and humility. They will undertake procedures to maintain and enhance the company’s profitability and cash flow while keeping the human factor and TKA+D culture in perspective.

The goal is to maintain the company’s development and manage projects to facilitate the long-term success of TKA+D.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Architect AIBC Status in good standing where applicable.
• Report to Associates and Principals
• Manage Projects on a day to day basis
• Ensure the design and technical direction of TKA+D is maintained
• Work directly with clients representing TKA+D
• Under the direction of associates and principals, maintain the brand and reputation that TKA+D has established
• Implement operational strategies ensuring their alignment with the short-term and long-term objectives of TKA+D
• Work with Associates and Principals to advance the engagement of other team members to develop a high performing team
• Carry out project activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with TKA+D Mission
• Carry out work in compliance with legal and professional codes, laws and guidelines as well as TKA+D policies and procedures
• Act as the project manager or team member under the direction of an Associate and/or Principal and report regularly to the Principal on the status of the projects
• Build trust relationships with clients and other key industry representatives
• Working with Associates and Principals, analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth
• Attain & maintain a thorough knowledge of the practice of Architecture
• Undertake continuing education in accordance with TKA+D policy
